About MoveToSpain & Our Editorial Standards

How the immigration information we publish is researched, verified, and kept up to date.

Who we are

MoveToSpain is a bilingual platform that helps people around the world navigate the Spanish immigration system. We combine detailed guides, an AI assistant, and an email question service to simplify processes like visas, NIE, TIE, empadronamiento, and residency. Our content is produced by the MoveToSpain Editorial Team.

How we research each guide

Every guide starts from primary, official sources rather than third-party summaries. We prioritise, in this order:

  • The Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE) for laws, royal decrees, and deadlines.
  • Official ministry and government sites (.gob.es): Inclusion, Interior, Foreign Affairs, the Tax Agency, and Social Security.
  • Electronic offices (sedes electrónicas) and consulates for procedures, fees, and appointments.
  • Only where needed, reputable secondary sources — always cross-checked against the official ones.

Sourcing & citation policy

When we state a specific figure — an income threshold, a fee, a deadline, or a percentage — we aim to link the official source it comes from so any reader can verify it. When a rule changes, the figure is updated and the guide’s review date is refreshed.

Review & updates

Spanish immigration changes often. We review guides periodically and whenever a relevant rule takes effect. Each article shows its last-updated date, which reflects a real review of the content — not the site’s deployment date.

Use of artificial intelligence

We use AI tools to assist with drafting and with translation between Spanish and English. All published content is reviewed by people and checked against official sources before it goes live. AI helps us move faster; it does not replace human verification.

Corrections

If you spot an error or out-of-date information, tell us and we will fix it. We would rather correct something quickly than leave it inaccurate.

Important notice

MoveToSpain provides general information for educational purposes, not legal advice. Immigration depends on personal circumstances and the rules change. For decisions affecting your case, consult an official source or a licensed professional.
