Málaga books through the state portal, and asylum is only at one office

Like Alicante and unlike the three largest cities, Málaga routes extranjería appointments through the state portal. The Subdelegación’s own Carta de Servicios links every extranjería entry to it. Where Málaga does use email it says so explicitly — the Área de Trabajo e Inmigración has its own address — and no such note exists for extranjería.

The detail worth knowing before you travel: asylum and refuge are handled only at the Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras in Málaga city. None of the coastal comisarías lists them. The same office is the only one handling short-stay extensions, students, non-lucrative residence, travel documents and cédulas de inscripción.

The seven comisarías along the coast do handle the common procedures — NIE, TIE issuing, EU-regime matters, return authorisations, invitation letters and nationality reports — so for those you need not travel into the city.

Two practical notes. The Subdelegación’s registry at Paseo de Sancha takes people without an appointment, with shorter hours from 16 June to 15 September. And the Subdelegación gives itself no response-time commitment for extranjería email specifically, so do not expect one.

We do not tell you what time slots are released or how long it normally takes to get one. No official source states either: the administration says only that availability depends on each office. The specific times circulating on forums and blogs are guesses, and acting on them wastes people’s time.
